The AWF recently attended a stakeholder event with Capita to review the progress of changing clients from Disability Living Allowance on to Personal Independence Payments.
Capita acknowledged that there have been some delays in processing individual cases due to the number of trained professionals they needed to recruit to carry assessments out. However, they were confident in saying that they are now on course to deal with the back log and hope to catch up by the end of the year.
If there are any examples of assessments where you have been concerned, please contact the AWF and we can raise them with Capita at our meetings.
Important – Capita also informed us that anyone currently in receipt of DLA should NOT assume that their file and personal details will be transferred over by the Department of Work and Pensions to Capita in advance of your new assessment. If you want to have your previous details and record taken into account you MUST contact the Department for Work and Pensions and request that they pass it on. You can find the contact details for DWP on your allocation letter given to you when you were awarded the benefit. You will also need your personal reference number which will be on the letter to make sure they have the right personal details.
