Who We Work With

Who We Work With

The All Wales Forum works in partnership with carers, public bodies, government and other organisations from across Wales to;

  • Raise awareness of the needs of parents and carers of children and adults with learning disabilities across the whole of Wales.
  • Advocate for the rights of family carers to be heard as equals with regards to service planning and policy development.
  • Provide a voice for this vulnerable group by highlighting and campaigning on national and local issues that directly impact upon parents and carers and their family members.

The AWF reaches directly into local communities through a network of carer-led organisations and groups that we support across Wales.  Through this network, we provide support and information to thousands of parents and carers of children and adults with a learning disability.  You can find a local group here http://awf2.midwalesdesign.com/groups/

We work with Carers Wales and The Carers Trust as well as other organisations to help support carers and families http://awf2.midwalesdesign.com/information/carer-support-organisations/

We work closely with other voluntary sector organisations that represent Learning Disability. http://awf2.midwalesdesign.com/information/other-useful-organisations/

The All Wales Forum has formed a partnership consortium to discuss matters in relation to Learning Disability in Wales with:

  • Mencap Cymru
  • All Wales people First
  • Learning Disability Wales

Along with these three organisations we are represented on the Welsh Government’s Learning Disability Advisory Group (LDAG) INSERT LINK HERE. The Learning Disability Advisory Group advises the Welsh Government on learning disability policy and practice. The group was set up in 2012 by the Deputy Minister for Children and Social Services, Gwenda Thomas. The group is made up of professionals working in health, social care and the voluntary sector in Wales, as well as representatives from Welsh Government, and two people with a learning disability.

Other groups that meet regularly and on which the AWF has representation are;

Disability Hate Crime Action Group

Community of Practice – Challenging Behaviour

LDAG sub group – Advocacy

LDAG sub group – No winterbourne view in Wales

Wales Alliance for Citizen Directed Support
