General information

The All Wales Forum of Parents and Carers(AWFPC)

We’ve been in business now for over 20 years – since the launch of the ‘All Wales Strategy for People with Learning Disabilities’ in the early 80s.

In that time we’ve become a professional organisation well respected by the Welsh Office – now the Welsh Assembly Government (WAG) – local authorities, sister voluntary organisations, and individual parents and carers throughout much of the Country. Importantly we are the only organisation for parents and carers of people with Learning Disabilities which is run by parents and carers of people with Learning Disabilities. We identify issues which affect people across Wales, and work with other organisations such as Learning Disability Wales and MENCAP Cymru to obtain the best services for our members.

In 1998 we were registered both as a Charity and as a Company Limited by Guarantee. In the same year we started our regular newsletters, and Abl is now essential reading for all people with an interest in Learning Disability issues.

Thanks to the tireless work of our trustees the AWF is represented on the Learning Disabilities Implementation Advisory Group (LDIAG) set up by the Welsh Assembly Government. Regular meetings are held with the WAG minister responsible for learning disability policy, and with senior civil servants in that department.

We are based in Aberdare, where there is a small team who maintain contact with members from all over Wales. Get in touch if you would like to become a member and register for your free copy of Abl.

Fforwm Cymru Gyfan (FfCG)

Rydym yn bodoli bellach ers dros 20 mlynedd – ers lansio ‘Strategaeth Cymru Gyfan ar gyfer Pobl ag Anableddau Dysgu’ yn gynnar yn yr 80au.

Yn ystod y cyfnod hwnnw rydym wedi datblygu’n gorff proffesiynol uchel ei barch gan y Swyddfa Gymreig – ac erbyn hyn, Llywodraeth Cynulliad Cymru – awdurdodau lleol, chwaer gyrff gwirfoddol a rhieni a chynhalwyr unigol ledled y wlad. Ni yw’r unig gorff i rieni a chynhalwyr pobl ag anableddau dysgu sy’n cael ei redeg gan rieni a chynhalwyr pobl ag anableddau dysgu. Nodwn faterion sydd yn effeithio ar bobl ar draws Cymru gan weithio gyda chyrff eraill fel Anabledd Dysgu Cymru a MENCAP Cymru i gael y gwasanaethau gorau i’n haelodau.

Ym 1998 fe’n cofrestrwyd fel Elusen ac fel Cwmni’n Gyfyngedig gan Warant. Yn yr un flwyddyn cynhyrchwyd ein cylchlythyrau rheolaidd am y tro cyntaf a bellach mae Abl yn ddeunydd darllen hanfodol i bawb sydd â diddordeb mewn materion Anabledd Dysgu..

Diolch i waith diflino ein hymddiriedolwyr mae gan Fforwm Cymru Gyfan gynrychiolaeth ar y Grŵp Ymgynghorol Gweithredu Anableddau Dysgu (LDIAG) a sefydlwyd gan Lywodraeth y Cynulliad. Cynhelir cyfarfodydd rheolaidd gyda gweinidog Llywodraeth y Cynulliad sydd yn gyfrifol am bolisi anabledd dysgu a gydag uwch weision sifil yn yr adran honno.

Rydym wedi’n lleoli yn Aberdar, lle mae tîm bychan yn cadw mewn cysylltiad ag aelodau ar draws Cymru. Cysylltwch ni os hoffech ddod yn aelod a chofrestru i gael eich copi rhad ac am ddim o Abl.
