Helplines open during the Festive Period 2023

The office will be closed from the 22nd of December and will be reopening on the 2nd of January. We will answer any enquiries as soon as we get back. We have gathered below a list of helplines that are available during the festive period. 

 

Carers Uk Helpline – 0808 808 7777 – https://www.carersuk.org/wales  

Our telephone Carers UK Helpline service will continue to operate Monday to Friday over the festive period. You can call 0808 808 7777.

Mencap Cymru’s Wales Learning Disability Helpline Christmas Opening Times – https://wales.mencap.org.uk/
The helpline will be open throughout December as normal:

If you need somebody to talk to or a listening ear, Samaritans is also available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year on 116 123 or you can email jo@samaritans.org

 

CALL Mental Health Helpline for Wales – 0800 132 737 – https://www.callhelpline.org.uk/  

Community Advice & Listening Line. Offering a confidential listening and support service. Call the helpline or text help to 81066

 

If you can’t call then text SHOUT at 85258, open 24 hours a day, for confidential text support service.

 

Childline – 0800 1111 – https://www.childline.org.uk/  

Free, private and confidential service for anyone under 19 in the UK. Help with any issue young people are going through.  

 

NSPCC – 0808 800 5000 – https://www.nspcc.org.uk/  

Providing support and information for anyone who is worried about the safety of a child.  

 

Salvation Army – (020) 7367 4500 – https://www.salvationarmy.org.uk/  

Providing food parcels, practical support and somewhere to sleep for people who are homeless at Christmas.  

 

Shelter Cymru – 08000 495 495 – https://sheltercymru.org.uk/contact-us/  

Local, online, over the phone and legal support with housing rights. The helpline is open 9.00am – 2.30pm Monday to Friday. 

 

Llamau – 0800 0495 495 – https://www.llamau.org.uk/  

The Llamau Youth Homeless Helpline is available to support young people at risk of, or experiencing homelessness. If you are aged 16-24 and without a safe place to stay, Llamau Youth Homeless Helpline is open through the night, from 5pm to 9am and throughout the weekend from 5pm Friday night until 9am Monday morning. 0800 0495 495, Press option 1 free of charge for help and advice on how to keep safe and access support.

Llamau offers various Domestic Abuse services, including domestic abuse refuges, floating support, group sessions, and the Freedom Programme.

If you would like to access Domestic Abuse services in any other area, you should call the Live Fear Free helpline on 0808 80 10 800 and they will be able to refer you to the most relevant service for you.

The Welsh Government funded Live Fear Free helpline is available 24/7, offering free confidential support and advice to survivors and concerned others.

Bereavement support and information. 

 

The Trussell Trust – https://www.trusselltrust.org/  

Emergency food and support including a list of local foodbanks. You will need a voucher from their referral agency first.  

 

National Domestic Abuse Helpline – 0808 2000 247 – https://www.nationaldahelpline.org.uk/ Online and over the phone support to increase safety, find a refuge and other specialist services. 

 

Victim Support – Supportline – 08 08 16 89 111 – https://www.victimsupport.org.uk/help-and-support/get-help/supportline/  

If you’ve been affected by crime and you need confidential support or information, call Supportline for free on 08 08 16 89 111. You can dial 141 to hide your number, but please check with your network provider as this doesn’t work on some mobile networks. Supportline operates 24/7, every day of the year, including Christmas.

 

Extra help in a power cut

If you need extra help in a power cut, there is emergency support available to you when you need it most.

National Grid’s Priority Services Register offers special help through trusted partners such as British Red Cross. Their services are suitable for elderly, very ill or disabled people, or those who rely on power for medical equipment.

If you’re unsure which electricity network supplies your home, Ofgem can help you find the right supplier on their website.
